Mindfulness, Meditation & Spirituality

“Man was meant to sit quietly and discover his truth within.”
― Lao Tzu

If you are interested in learning how to develop the ability to quiet the mind and reclaim your natural abilities of psychic perception, our spirituality and meditation workshops offer mindfulness and meditation and techniques for spiritual development. Five benefits of quietening the mind include

  • Stress reduction
  • Improved concentration and mental clarity
  • Enhanced creativity
  • Freedom from unhealthy habits and self-destructive patterns
  • Inner Peace

Mindfulness

To be mindful is to be aware of your own experience, moment to moment, without judgment. The term “mindfulness” is a translation of the Pali term sati which is a significant element of Buddhist traditions. In Buddhist teachings, mindfulness is utilized to develop self-knowledge and wisdom leading to enlightenment or freedom from suffering. Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique that can help you manage and prevent feelings of depression, stress, anxiety, or discontent. It enables anyone who practices it to live a more attentive, appreciative, and vibrant life.

Meditation

Meditation describes a state of concentrated attention on some object of thought or awareness. It usually involves turning the attention inward to a single point of reference such as one’s breath. The benefits of the practice can engender a higher state of consciousness. Meditation is recognized as a component of eastern religions, where it has been practiced for over 5,000 years. It is easy and effortless…

Meditation does not always have a religious element. It is a natural part of the human experience and is increasingly used as a therapy for promoting good health and boosting the immune system. In the most general definition, meditation is a way of taking control of the mind so that it becomes peaceful and focused to prevent the mind rushing about in an aimless (or even a purposeful) stream of thoughts that may or may not be helpful.

Successful meditation means simply being – not judging, not thinking, just being aware, in essence using mindfulness on the mind itself. One becomes connected to the ocean of stillness at the very core of one’s being and discovers a joy for life beyond words.

Spirituality

When the mind becomes still, many of the other abilities to “know and sense” inherent in every human being, become accessible. They can’t usually be heard because the chattering mind makes such a noise and distracts us with judgments, doubt, suffering, and a general resistance to life.
These abilities include:

• Clairaudience
• Clairvoyance
• Astral Travel (out of body experience)
• Intuitive Knowing
• Healing
• A connection to all of life
• A deep sense of the divine in us all, (religions have many words for this, God, Buddha, Allah, Christ, Mohammed, Jehovah, and more… different
names for the same all-permeating presence…. And all are welcomed)
Mindfulness, Meditation, and spirituality are an aspect of transpersonal psychology one of Vicky’s passions…. Look out for our weekend workshops or call for one on one facilitation.
